ROME!

Thursday, July 30, 2009
Okay, so I didn't have internet in Rome, because it cost like 18 euros, which is like 25 or so dollars. So I wrote in a Word document and now I'm posting it here.

Whoo, been a few days, huh? I know, I know. I said I’d try to update every day or so, but the hotel in Rome has no Internet. I’m in Rome, now, as I type this, in MS Word. I’ve just ended my second day here, and have my last one tomorrow.

We took a train from Paris to Rome. Along the way, at the station where we had to change trains, we met a nice Canadian guy who was going to Rome as well. Our train was delayed 10 minutes so we talked to him to pass the time.

Trains are so different! They’re like flying, except with a view. The reason we took a train instead of flying was for the view of the European countryside. It was really pretty, with all the little towns and mountains.

The first day, we had a tour of the Four big churches in Rome, ending at the HUGE Saint Peter’s. It was a pretty cool tour, and our group was really small: Me, Mom, Dad, and a group of four people from Liverpool, England. Oh my GOSH. I LOVE their accents! And that’s not all. They had two boys; both blondes, long-ish hair, around the same age - I think one was a few years older – both were around my age I think. The younger one though… He looked like Cal would in his teens. Both the boys were kinda hot rofl… no srsly. I mean it.

Anyway, after the Churches tour, we headed over to the Vascilica Museum for another tour. This lady that was our guide must have got off on art history, because she told us every little detail about every little painting and every person in it. Did I mention that this museum had barely any A/C? Well yeah, it had any barely any A/C. I guess she was used to the heat, but no one else was and it was horrible. Most of the time we couldn’t pay attention because it was that hot

Today we had another tour, at the Coliseum and the ruins. Our tour guide was fairly good, and she kept it interesting. She also tried to make sure we all had enough water and that we could get into the shade whenever there was any. She also told us of the stories of gore and blood, which was awesome, lol.

As we headed over to the ruins, I saw my British boys and their mum and dad again, they didn’t see us though. On our walk back to the Coliseum I saw the older brother and the dad, and this time they did see us, though our parents only said hello to each other and asked how each was doing, while me and the older boy just kind of looked at each other smiled in hello.

At the end of the day we did a quick horse-and-carriage ride around one part of Rome, which was kind of nice, but really short for 150 Euros. That’s about $200.

That’s all for now, really. My eyes are starting to get heavy and I want nothing more than to slip off into dreamland and dream about England and the two blondes who belong to it.

BTW, I believe I’ve actually picked up a bit of an accent. Just a small bit. But another tid-bit is that I can only think in a British accent. Lol.
